Our Church
Community Baptist Church is a simple, Bible believing, Baptist Church. We offer no mystical experiences, just real Bible answers for life’s greatest questions. Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to be a part of our services. You do not have to be a Baptist to attend. All are welcome!
We use the name Baptist because it links us to a group of people who down through the ages have held to a simple belief that what the Bible says is literally true. We believe the Bible to be God’s Holy Word. It is the center of our ministry. From its pages we find all the answers to life’s toughest questions and the solutions to life’s greatest problems.
A Biblical church has two basic purposes: reaching sinners, and teaching saints. Every service and ministry of Community Baptist Church strives to fulfill these two God ordained purposes. We invite you to attend our services and to become a part of what God is doing at Community Baptist Church.
Our History
Community Baptist Church held its first service on October 3, 2010, under the leadership of Pastor Joshua Fryman. For the next two years, weekly services were held at 205 Marcy Avenue across the street from the Riverhead Polish Hall. God began to grow the church and the need for a permanent location became evident. On April 7, 2013, Community Baptist Church began renting and holding services in its current location. In May 2018, the Lord called Pastor Fryman to another pastorate. After struggling to find a new pastor, Community Baptist Church was in danger of permanently closing its doors. Pastor Pete Montoro from the Open Door Bible Baptist Church of Astoria, Queens stepped in as the interim pastor during this difficult time. Through his leadership, Community Baptist Church eventually called Pastor Andrew Montoro on June 2, 2019. Since that time God has continued to work numerous miracles, including the purchase of the Sound Avenue building in June of 2020. The greatest miracles of God will always be the saving of souls and transforming of lives by His grace and power. To God be the glory!
